Apple Picking

We headed out to the apple orchard today to pick some apples! Here the boys are, all ready to go! Of course mommy has to take a picture or two first! Sure wish they'd open their eyes!

Hmmmm, which one is the best?

Here's Spike's first pick...

And here's Slick's!

Are we done yet?
One more picture with mommy, please!
We'll wait here, while you pay! And of course, no trip to a farm is complete with out a picture by the JOHN DEERE tractor!

If you were glasses, where would you hide?

Yes, this is a question I ask myself MANY times in a day, I just fill in the blanks a little different each time..."If you were __________, where would you hide!
So today the blank was glasses. Spike's had is glasses all of 4 days! Record for some I suppose! I picked him up from school and asked, (after we had already left of course! Gotta get used to it too!) "Dude, where are your glasses?" "In my bag or in the class room!", he replied. I knew they weren't in his bag because I had just looked in it. I called the teacher and said I'd be back to pick them up. When I got there, they said they had cleaned and didn't find them. So off we go, all the while asking "If you were glasses, where would you hide? If you were glasses, where would you hide?" We had a few of the older students running around and a couple of teachers too. We headed to the gym, kitchen, playground, and classes. Looked in desks, pencil boxes and even TRASH CANS (donned in rubber gloves of course!) After a half an hour, one of the teachers said, "Spike, did you put them in your pocket?!?!?!?!?!"
Are you kidding me! No way! All that!
But, the look on his face when she asked him was PRICELESS! We had asked him OVER and OVER where he put them, where he was, what he was doing. He just could not remember, until then! He knew EXACTLY where they were!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! A lesson learned I guess! Gotta love it!

ANOTHER First of MANY!

Well, today we did our first of MANY homework projects. Spike had to do a poster "All about Me!" He had to put on there his favorite color, food and book and what he wants to be when he grows up.
I wanted it to be HIS, not my project. So he got to cutting...
and glueing!
Mommy and Teek had to step in and do the "writing"! Thanks Teek for coming through again!
And here it is...
A very proud little boy! His favorite food is mac & cheese and hot dogs (also known as ghetto mac to daddy!). His favorite color is, you guessed it, BLUE. His favorite book is The Cat in the HAT. And he wants to be a firefighter when he grows up!
Not a bad little project, but not really sure about the MANY, MANY projects ahead!

LEGOS!

So, you might have been wondering where the picture of my ATV was! Well, since I'm mostly computer illiterate, I couldn't figure out how to get the picture bacl after I some how deleted it! So, that being said, it gets a post all it's own! (Oh yea, and how about the handsome young man opperating the ATV! Such a cutie sporting his new specs!)

Ever Wonder?

Have you ever wondered what mom's do when they stay home with their sick child? I have. In case you care, this is what I did today while I was home with Spike. (Now keep in mind, he is getting older, and he was feeling MUCH better today. I really could have gone to church with him, based on medical terms, meaning, he was fever free for 24 hours and he had his antibiotic for 24 hours, etc. But by MOMMY terms, and that's what counts, he was not ready! So that being said, we were past the "lie-the-couch-and-HOLD-me-ALL-DAY stage!)

Daddy and Slick left for church and I got right on to making some YUM-O Banana Crumb Muffins! (Spike LOVES banana bread, muffins, cake, you name it!)

After cleaning up the MESS in the kitchen, I headed up to tackle the winter/summer clothes swap that I was in the middle of! Not only do I have to do the seasonal change, it works out that my kids also move into the next size right about this time of year. So I pulled Spike away from his LEGOS long enough to try on a few pants and shirts...

Before losing him to his new love, PHOTOGRAPHY! Yes, that is me in the background. After spending some time with the clothes, I changed, washed and remade the beds! ALL of them. Got to get rid of those NASTY germs. I don't want anyone else to get it!

That done, I moved on to FALL! I LOVE decorating for the fall. I don't have very much stuff, but just enough to make it feel a little more "autumnish" in the house. (All the while I've been burning a very yummy pumpkin spice candle that Spike picked out yesterday while waiting for his prescription!)

So my few decorations are up and there's just a little time before Daddy and Slick get home and want lunch! So what do I do, well, play LEGOS of course! I'm new to this whole LEGO game, but I must say, "I make a pretty good firefighting ATV!"

All in all, a pretty productive day! I know, Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest! Well, believe it or not, this was restful for me, emotionally that is. I feel very refreshed after being productive since there aren't many days that look like this one! I would have rather been at church, but my baby needed to get his rest! He's feeling MUCH better, for which I've very thankful!

End of Summer?

Gone are the days of swimming for the year. The pool here is officially closed! Always a sad day for us. We love to swim.
So long, friend! Looking forward to spending time with you next year! It's been fun!

First of many, I'm sure!

Well, we had our first absence from school today! Didn't even make it two weeks! Came home with what looked and sounded like a simple cold yesterday after school. By the time he went to bed, he had a fever of 101.1. Of course mommy had a busy day planned at school, so Gramma came to the rescue. He spent the night with her and she loved on him and took good care of him. He was VERY, VERY upset about missing school. So glad he's loving it so far!

Thankful Thursday!

So thankful for these two boys! This picture pretty much sums them up! Spike is very "reserved!" Never wants to draw any attention to himself. He's very willing to allow Slick to "steal the show", all the while, thinking to himself, "Man, that kid is NUTS!" He may very well be right!
Slick, well, this is pretty much him! Always doing something silly! He just loves life!
They're are a great mix! They are USUALLY BEST FRIENDS! They do have their moments, don't get me wrong! They make a great team!
Just so thankful for them! I Love you, Babies!

Wordless Wednesday!

Naptime?

Spike: "Mom, he's acting like he needs to take a nap!"
Mom: "Oh yea? You would know wouldn't you?"
Spike: "Yea! Remember I acted like that one time?"
Mom: "Oh yes, I remember!"

Happy Birthday, Precious Boy!

Slick turns 4 today! He's very happy to "share" his birthday with his Gramma and his cousin (the day after!)
And THANKS to Gramma, he has a FABULOUS cake each year! A birthday in this family would not be complete with out it! Another job well done!
So, cousin "Teek" is is following nicely in her Gramma's footsteps. She made these adorable cupcakes for Slick to take to school today. When asked how is class like them, he said, "They said, 'fun cupcakes' and "THANK YOU, SLICK!'" Guess they were a hit!

So very proud of them!
Of course, the other thing a birthday cannot be complete with out is...A TRUCK!
Or maybe even TWO trucks!

No, how about THREE trucks!

Yea, I think that might do it!
A little "brotherly love" while celebrating at non other then, Chuck E Cheese!

Happy Birthday, Baby! You are a very precious boy, indeed! You know how to light up a room, just by walking into it. You have a very contagious laugh! You are our comic relief! You LOVE life! You always see the glass as "half FULL!" We are so blessed to have you in our lives!
We love you!

Off to School!

How is it possible that we have a KINDERGARTNER in the house? My goodness, this hardly seems possible. Still, it's true and here he is on his first day! All ready to go! What a handsome young man he is!
But, before he goes, he's got to get a picture with everyone!
Daddy... Mommy...
And of course, brother!
How exciting! WAITING for the bus! I think this might have been the highlight! Oh wait, no, he told me that it was lunchtime! (because you eat there!)
Here he is, all grown up in his desk!

One last picture with Mom before she leaves!
So, what did mommy and Slick do? Well, you guessed it... PLAY DOUGH!!!!!!!!!!

So, Slick's first day of K-3 came the next day! And here he is all grown up! Looking so handsome!

Of course, we MUST take a picture of his backpack! (He must have forgotten it was the same one he used last year!;))

After school it's was off to Friendly's to "celebrate"!

Such a big day for all the boys! It was daddy's LAST first day of classes too! Can't wait to those school days to be over!
